LONG STORY SHORT: I highly recommend the 6-inch Chive ceramic astronaut bud vase. It is well made, modern, upscale, and super-cute, has a glossy glaze inside and out, holds liquid and fresh flowers, and is well worth the cost.SHORT STORY LONG: I fell in love with these whimsical astronaut vases. They’re so much fun, modern, and cute in any room. There’s others from different manufacturers that have a more “realistic” sculpt, but they couldn’t be used with liquid, just dried or faux flowers. I wanted something I could use with fresh cut flowers – a bud vase.I bought the smaller size ceramic vase from Chive. The dimensions: 4"l x 3"w x 6"h. I can’t help but anthropomorphize this cute vase. This little guy is more cartoonish than some of the others. I love his round little belly, like the spacesuit was made for a 6-inch Buddha.The white ceramic is high gloss, with a gorgeous metallic glossy dark gold glaze on the “faceplate.” The inside is also polished, and waterproof. There are thin pads on his feet, to prevent scratching surfaces I suppose; but they didn’t interfere with my use. He has a large pack on his back, which is open at the top, and he is entirely hollow, including his legs. Gentle handwashing is required to protect that glaze, to my mind.My first experiment was with roses, but I think next time I’d do something a bit more minimalist, maybe a Gerbera daisy and some greenery. He’s definitely a unique vase, so he’ll be fun to experiment with.I was a little nervous purchasing, because I thought the price was a bit high for the size, but he was irresistible and now I’m very happy with my purchase. He has a fun, yet upscale feel. Definitely worth the cost. I’m going to purchase my little astronaut’s bigger brother (the one with the legs close together). So well made, well packaged, I’m very pleased. I highly recommend!
